Prison Poetry Workshop is a web platform and national radio series that connects audiences with the vibrant prison poetry genre found within U.S. jails, detention centers, and prisons.

By bringing forward an unheralded, aesthetically accomplished genre of American poetry that makes a significant contribution to our nation’s experience of itself, Prison Poetry Workshop creates a public space for experiencing, interacting with, learning from, and creating prison poetry.

A project of Roadside Theater/Appalshop, Prison Poetry Workshop was produced by Nick Szuberla, executive director and co-founder of Working Narratives, which " . . . works with movements to tell great stories that inspire, activate, and enliven our democracy."
