From October 25 to November 19, 2016, Roadside Theater and Appalshop's Appalachian Media Institute worked together to conduct a Fall Youth Theater Lab at Appalshop.  For three days a week, six youth aged 14-22 worked with Roadside artists to explore the basics of ensemble theater by creating and producing an original play from start to finish. Youth wrote and produced What if There Was a Fire, a play that combined personal reflections with a modern day, original Appalachian tale in the vein of the traditional "Mutsmeg and Jack Tales." The play was performed at the Appalshop Theater on November 29, 2016, followed by an exchange with the audience.
